I am pleased to announce that Mr Stephen Bendeich has been appointed as the new Crown Solicitor for Tasmania.

Mr Bendeich brings extensive experience to the role, having acted in the role of Crown Solicitor since October, and serving as Assistant Crown Solicitor since February 2018.

The Office of the Crown Solicitor fulfils an important role within the Tasmanian Government, allowing us to deliver our comprehensive infrastructure investments by providing advice on a range of commercial law and conveyancing services.

Mr Bendeich’s experience will serve him well in this role and I personally congratulate him on his appointment and look forward to working with him into the future.

I would also like to particularly thank the previous Crown Solicitor, Alan Morgan for his dedicated service in the role, and wish him well for the future.

Mr Bendeich’s appointment follows a national search which invited expressions of interest from suitably qualified legal practitioners and is for a period of five years.

Elise Archer, Attorney-General
