The Australian Electric Vehicle Association’s ‘try an electric vehicle’ event was held today providing an opportunity to find out more about electric vehicles.

Electrikhana was on in Hobart and gave Tasmanians the change to experience a test drive, as a driver or passenger.

Electric vehicles, powered by Tasmania’s renewable energy, have the potential to significantly improve the efficiency of the State’s vehicle fleet through reduced transport costs and greenhouse gas emissions reduction.

Through Climate Action 21: Tasmania’s Climate Change Action Plan 2017–2021 (Climate Action 21) the Hodgman Liberal Government is committed to supporting the uptake of electric vehicles.

This includes providing $450,000 in funding to support the rollout of a statewide electric vehicle charging network.

The Government is also supporting the early uptake of electric vehicles in fleets, through the Smarter Fleets Program.
