I am pleased to announce that Mr Damian Bugg AM QC will be appointed to undertake the independent review into the administrative and operational practices of the Public Trustee.
Mr Bugg has served as both the Tasmanian and Commonwealth Director of Public Prosecutions and as Chancellor of the University of Tasmania, and was appointed a Member of the Order of Australia (AM) for services to the law in 2005.
His extensive knowledge and experience speaks for itself and he is extremely well qualified to undertake this important review that will help resolve concerns raised about the Public Trustee, while also assisting the Public Trustee to continue to deliver its important services into the future.
The next step will be to establish a process to allow members of the public and key stakeholders to make submissions to the Review.
Under the Terms of Reference, a final Report will be provided to the Government by 30 November 2021.
Elise Archer, Attorney-General and Minister for Justice
