Tasmania’s screen industry is set to benefit from Amazon Prime’s announcement that an eight-part original series will start filming in Tasmania this November.

Written by Kate McCartney and Kate McLennan and co-produced by Guesswork Television – who also brought us Rosehaven – the comedy is set in a fictional town called Deadloch, which doubles as the series’ namesake.

We are thrilled that this major production will be filmed in Tasmania, providing another opportunity for Tasmania to be showcased to Prime Video Members in 240 countries and territories worldwide.

Our investment in Tasmania’s screen industry through productions like Rosehaven has given the Deadloch producers the confidence that our State is able to host such a major international project.

This opportunity will support our ongoing commitment to build the Tasmanian screen industry’s capacity, further ensuring local creatives will continue to intrigue, engage and entertain audiences around the world.

Deadloch will take place in a once-sleepy seaside hamlet, which is left reeling when a local man turns up dead on the beach, resulting in two female detectives being thrown together to solve the case.

McCartney and McLennan are best known for writing, directing and starring in satirical comedies The Katering Show and Get Krack!n, both of which received wide critical acclaim and won Australian Writers Guild Awards.

Together they will bring Deadloch to life with a stellar Australian cast and internationally acclaimed directors.

Deadloch will be produced by Guesswork Television, OK Great Productions and Amazon Studios.
